Asdrubal Cabrera plays hero in Rays sweep

Asdrubal Cabrera led the Rays to victory on Sunday, depositing a 94-mph fastball from visiting ace Chris Sale into the left field seats for a game-winning 2-run homer. (mlb.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Cabrera has been a major disappointment offensively for the Rays this season, but Rays manager Kevin Cash remains positive, " I know he hasn't performed offensively the way he wants to, or is capable of. But when you can get big knocks like that it erases some of those tough games." Cash is right, his offense has been offensive to us fantasy owners. In real baseball terms he's been an asset to the Rays defensively, but in fantasy he's been less than nothing. He entered Sunday with only one extra-base hit in his previous 18 games (15 starts), and the homer was his first since May 19th at the Braves. On the season he's producing a .206/.265/.321 line with 3 home runs, 16 runs scored, 15 RBI, and 3 stolen bases. He's been declining for a few years now, but not even the Rays could've envisioned it'd be this bad. Keep him off your fantasy roster.
