Jacoby Ellsbury is healing slower than hoped

by Jamie Mellor | Wed, Jun 17th 4:18am EDT

The Yankees had hoped that Ellsbury would be far enough along that he could fly to Tampa Bay and start working out at their minor league facility. They had hoped he might be back by July 1st. According to reports now, he is healing slower than they hoped and are unsure how much longer he might be out. (New York Post)

Fantasy Impact:

This news is not what anyone involved hoped it would be. This bad news hurts the Yankees, Ellsbury and his fantasy owners. Despite the uncertainty, if you have a DL spot or room on your bench, you should hold onto him for now. He is a quality OF and if he returns by the end of July, there will still be time for him to help you either make your run or hold off contenders. If his owner in your league is panicking, this would be a good time to see if you can get him at a drastic discount.
