Evan Longoria tallies multi-hit game in Rays win

by Mike Werner | Thu, Jun 18th 11:32pm EDT

Evan Longoria went 2-for-5 on Thursday, helping propel the Rays to a 5-3 victory over the Nationals. The victory puts the Rays 8-games over .500 for the first time since 2013

Fantasy Impact:

Longoria was forced from Monday's game early after being hit on the left wrist. It was a major scare for the Rays and fantasy owners alike, but X-rays came back negative and he was back in the lineup the next day. The multi-hit game was his second out of three since the injury scare, and all should be fine moving forward regarding that issue. The Rays franchise player has seen his offensive output slowly start to erode over the last couple of years, but continues to display elite defensive chops at third base. For the season, he's producing a .274/.352/.412 line, along with six home runs, 31 runs, 29 RBI, and one stolen base. He's more of a top 10 third baseman now and days rather than the top 5 commodity he once was.
