Asdrubal Cabrera homers against former club in Rays win

by Mike Werner | Sat, Jun 20th 5:13pm EDT

Facing his former team, Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a solo-homer in the Rays 4-1 victory over the Indians on Friday night.

Fantasy Impact:

Cabrera now has two home runs over his last six games. This coming after only having two in his first 59 games of the season, and none since May 19th. Cabrera's solo-shot off Carlos Carrasco in the 2nd inning was his fourth on the season, to go with an anemic .210/.267/.328 line. He does have hits in four of the the last six games, while producing multi-hit games over the last two. I'm not holding my breathe on a turnaround, but shortstop has been a blackhole in fantasy this season, and Cabrera has always had a bit of pop in his bat. He won't be mixed-league relevant, but keep an eye on his output over the next week or two in AL-Only formats. He could be worth an add if he gets hot.
