Kenley Jansen suffers first loss of the season

by Stan Son | Red Sox Correspondent | Sat, Jul 4th 1:36am EDT

Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth inning of a 1-1 game, Friday night against the New York Mets. He allowed the go-ahead run on two hits. He did strike out two and threw 20-of-24 pitches for strikes.

Fantasy Impact:

The 24 pitches thrown were the most in a game this season. His location was off and his velocity was down a few ticks. He threw one cutter at 95 mph, but was primarily sitting in the 93 mph range. I don't think there is anything to be concerned about, but tonight made three straight games where he has allowed an earned run. Barring any physical ailments, Jansen should end up as one of the top closers in the game. Keep an eye on any reports though.
