Zack Greinke extends scoreless streak to 27 2/3 innings

by Stan Son | Sat, Jul 4th 9:59pm EDT

Zack Greinke was brilliant once again Saturday against the New York Mets. He pitched seven innings of shutout ball, allowing four hits, and striking out four. 63-of-100 pitches were thrown for strikes.

Fantasy Impact:

This makes four consecutive starts, totalling 27 2/3 innings, that Greinke has not allowed an earned run. Unfortunately, he was left with a no-decision in two of those games. On the season, his ERA is now 1.48. His FIP is 2.48, so regression could be coming, but Matt Cain pitched many years scoffing at sabermetrics. In seven of 13 years, Greinke has had a lower ERA than FIP.
