Wei-Yin Chen's quality start not enough as Orioles fall late to Twins

by Jack Keenan | Mon, Jul 6th 11:42pm EDT

Wei-Yin Chen continued his excellent season with another quality start Monday night. Unfortunately, Chen's start was not enough to carry the Orioles to victory as they fell 4-2 in ten innings to the Twins. Chen pitched seven innings giving up only two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five. Chen ran into some trouble in the early innings (giving up homeruns to Torii Hunter and Aaron Hicks) but regained his composure and left the game giving the Orioles a chance at the win. Chen remained at 4-4 on the year and improved his ERA from 2.84 to 2.82.

Fantasy Impact:

Chen was by no means perfect, but he gives the Orioles a great chance to win every time he starts and Monday's effort was no different. Chen has not allowed more than two earned runs in over a month now and is clearly one of the Orioles' top pitchers. Chen is extremely underrated and has pitched better than his 4-4 record indicates. Chen is quickly becoming a "must own" pitcher in almost all fantasy leagues.
