Brett Gardner made his case to be an All-Star

by Christopher Jerez-Fernandez | Fri, Jul 10th 12:41am EDT

Gardner played lights out yesterday, finishing 3-for-5 with a home run in the series finale with the Oakland A's.

Fantasy Impact:

With the entire Yankees organization and fans pushing for Gardner to be selected to the All-Star game next week, anyone can sense he was due for an explosive performance. Gardner delivered just that: going 3-for-5 with a home run. So far in July, he’s been rather pedestrian at the plate. A batting average of .200 without a HR, RBI, or SB. That all changed yesterday and propelled him to be named to the 2015 All-Star game as a replacement for Alex Gordon. He has been rather consistent with his performances this season, earning a ranking in the top-10 of outfielders. Now with Jacoby Ellsbury’s presence back in the line-up, Gardner should also see a jump in his RBI totals.
