Mike Fiers starts the second half strong with a win against the Pirates

by JP Gale | Sat, Jul 18th 2:26pm EDT

Mike Fiers was fantastic on Friday night, pitching seven strong innings against the Pirates at Miller Park. He allowed one run on three hits, while walking a batter and striking out seven.

Fantasy Impact:

Fiers still can't avoid the home run ball, he allowed a solo shot to Jung Ho Kang in the seventh inning, but it was his only mistake. Fiers has a chance of heating up in the final months of the season. Last year between August 9th and September 28th, he went 6-4 with a 2.09 ERA over 64 and two-thirds innings with 71 strikeouts. He's worth a look in mixed leagues and could be a big help down the stretch.
