Zack Greinke has not allowed an earned run in six consecutive starts

by Stan Son | Sun, Jul 19th 4:40pm EDT

Zack Greinke extended his scoreless streak to 43 2/3 innings after pitching eight innings in Washington. He allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out 11. 76-of-119 pitches were thrown for strikes.

Fantasy Impact:

That makes six consecutive starts without allowing an earned run. Only three pitchers since 1920 have accomplished that feat: Orel Hershiser in 1988 and Don Drysdale in 1968. He still has a while to go before challenging Orel's 1988 streak of 59, but what a season for Greinke as he now has a 1.30 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, and 117 Ks in 131 innings. He's the No. 2 pitcher on ESPNs Player Rater. His FIP is 2.64 so regression should be coming, but it's hard to bet on that the way Greinke is pitching right now.
