Jon Lester lasted eight innings and earned his second win of July with a season-high 14 strikeout effort (the most by a Cub since Mark Prior struck out 15 in 2004) against the Rockies. He gave up two earned runs on five hits and one walk.
Fantasy Impact:
Lester put together his best month of the year in July, with a 1.66 ERA and a total of 50 strikeouts. His lack of run support is seriously concerning as wins do count in fantasy and the Cubs are only scoring an average of 2.17 runs when Lester pitches, but he is pitching like an ace, so the wins will come.
