Brandon Phillips posts historic night against Pirates

by Bryan Montgomery | Thu, Jul 30th 11:45pm EDT

Brandon Phillips went 4-for-5 with two home runs and seven RBI in the Reds' 15-5 win over the Pirates, adding a pair of stolen bases to become the first player to achieve the impressive stat line since the RBI was named an official stat in 1920, according to the Elias Stat Bureau. (MLB.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Brandon Phillips exploded back on the scene for the Reds, hitting his first home run since June 28 and posting his first multi-hit game since July 21. Fantasy owners should be cautious before re-inserting Phillips into their lineup, as Phillips has lacked consistency despite his incredible evening on Thursday for Cincinnati. Prior to the seven runs driven in tonight, Phillips' last RBI came against Cleveland on July 17.
