David Price dominates in debut

by Marc Walton | Mon, Aug 3rd 8:12pm EDT

David Price announced his presence with authority Monday, pitching eight innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out 11. The only run the Twins managed was a second inning home run by Torii Hunter. Price ran into a bit of trouble in the fourth inning when he gave up a leadoff double to Trevor Plouffe, followed by back-to-back walks to load the bases. Price however bore down and retired the next three batters to escape the inning unscathed. Price would retire the next 15 batters in a row en route to his first win as a Blue Jay.

Fantasy Impact:

From a pure numbers standpoint, there shouldn't be much of a change between his numbers with the Tigers and with the Blue Jays, other than the possibility of more wins behind baseball's best offensive lineup. Price is moving to a more hitter friendly ballpark, however he is unbeaten at the Rogers Centre in his career, and will look to carry that throughout the season.
