Gio Gonzalez goes five innings for no-decision against D-Backs

by Rose Ingberman | Thu, Aug 6th 12:56pm EDT

Gio Gonzalez was effective but not efficient in five innings of work, as he was scored upon only once while striking out seven and walking only one. He allowed a single to the first batter in the sixth and was removed with a 2-1 lead at 95 pitches. The bullpen allowed the runner to score (and imploded to the tune of eight more runs), leaving Gio with a no-decision.

Fantasy Impact:

In his last seven starts, Gonzalez (8-4, ERA 3.75) is 4-0 with a 1.77 ERA, and has not allowed more than two earned runs in any outing. However, he has thrown seven innings only twice, and his SO/BB ratio is 37/13 in that period.
