Jesus Montero is 6-for-18 with three doubles and a home run since being called back up. The slimmed down first baseman is earning himself an extended role with the major league club. (Tacoma News Tribune)

With the Mariners largely out of contention, the team is likely to continue rolling with Montero at 1st base and DH. He has responded by hitting consistently, particularly against left-handed pitching. While the team has frequently adhered to platoon splits for starting lineups, the struggles of left-handed hitting Logan Morrison means owners should see more and more opportunities for Montero.
