Mat Latos allows six earned runs in four innings

The Pirates tagged Mat Latos for six earned runs in the first three innings Saturday afternoon. The big blow was serving up a three-run home run to Francisco Liriano, the opposing pitcher. Latos allowed seven hits, walked one, and did not record a strikeout. 52-of-78 pitches were thrown for strikes.
Fantasy Impact:
Latos has always had talent but struggles with bouts of mental weakness. Nine of 17 starts on the season have been quality starts. Unfortunately, he's allowed more than five runs in four starts. Since returning from the DL in June, Latos has pitched very well, but there's been two starts allowing five plus runs. Latos can be a viable fantasy option as he strikes out eight batters per nine innings. Just don't be surprised at the occassional blowup.
