Knee injury ends Michael Saunders' season

by Peter Ringel | Wed, Aug 19th 8:13am EDT

Saunders is still being bothered by a left knee injury. He was a popular fantasy sleeper heading into 2015 but appeared in only nine games for the Blue Jays. (NBC Sports)

Fantasy Impact:

Saunders had played just nine games prior to hitting the disabled list and was hitting just .194 with no extra base hits. Saunders was acquired from the Mariners for left-hander J.A. Happ in December, and the Blue Jays expected him to be a regular, but he ended up playing just nine games due to a knee injury suffered during spring training. Toronto isn’t exactly hurting for offensive help, but Saunders’ left-handed bat (and .743 OPS from 2012-2014) would have complemented an otherwise right-handed-heavy lineup. He will be ready to go for spring training and could be a potential sleeper.
