Denard Span nears return to major-league action

Denard Span went 2-for-2 with a walk and played five innings in the field for the Low-A Hagerstown Suns on Wednesday. This after playing five innings Tuesday night and requesting to play for a second consecutive game rather than DH. (Chelsea Jones of The Washington Post)
Fantasy Impact:
Span will need to play nine innings for a game or two, but it looks like he could return during the Nationals' upcoming homestand, possibly as early as Tuesday night against the Padres. The veteran center fielder would take over the leadoff spot, where he hit .304/.367/.430 with five homers and 22 RBI before going on the DL with back spasms July 7.
