Alex Wood pitches well in Cincinnati

by Stan Son | Athletics Correspondent | Tue, Aug 25th 9:26pm EDT

Alex Wood allowed one earned run on four hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out six. The earned run was a result of Chris Hatcher relieving Wood in the sixth inning and promptly allowing a double to Todd Frazier, which scored Brandon Phillips from first base. 50-of-88 pitches were thrown for strikes.

Fantasy Impact:

Because of Wood's funky delivery, he could completely stymie an opponent on any day. He's pitched a couple of games in which he's struck out seven batters without allowing an earned run in seven innings pitched. On the flip side, if a team gets a beat on his delivery, then they tend to tee off on him. He does not throw hard and relies on deception, location, and changing speeds. The Dodgers have a good offense and defense so that helps his prospects.
