Jeff Samardzija struggles against Cleveland on Wednesday

Jeff Samardzija has had an up and down season this year. His struggles continued on Wednesday as he let up four earned runs in 6.1 innings; two of them were HR. He did strikeout five in his effort, but the White Sox lost 4-6 to the Indians.
Fantasy Impact:
Jeff Samardzija has not had the season the White Sox were expecting. He is a solid strikeout pitcher, but he allows too many runs. He has a current ERA of 4.89, which is too high for a No. 2 pitcher. I think the White Sox' expectations of Samardzija were too high. He should not be looked at as anything better than a No. 3 starter. Play Samardzija when the matchups are in his favor. Otherwise, it might be wise to look elsewhere at this point in the fantasy season.
