David Ortiz hits 500th career home run

by John Aubin | Sun, Sep 13th 5:44am EDT

David Ortiz hit his 500th home run in Saturday's 10-4 win over the Rays. Ortiz's 500th bomb was a solo shot off Matt Moore in the fifth inning. It was his second homer of the game, as he had already launched a three-run homer in the opening frame. The 39-year-old slugger finished the game 3-for-4 with four RBI.

Fantasy Impact:

David Ortiz continues to have a strong second half of the season for the Red Sox. Ortiz is now hitting .275 with 34 home runs and 95 runs batted in. He should be started and with his current hot streak makes for a good DFS play.
