Steve Cishek records first save as a Cardinal

by Brad Richter | Wed, Sep 23rd 9:58am EDT

With Trevor Rosenthal unavailable after pitching on back-to-back days, the Cardinals turned to Cishek to close out a two run lead in the 9th inning on Tuesday against the Reds. Cishek responded by pitching a scoreless frame while striking out two batters to pick up his first save as a Cardinal.

Fantasy Impact:

Cishek was the closer for the Marlins when the season began, but has endured a rough season, getting demoted from the role in Miami and then getting traded to the Cardinals. Cishek has primarily served as one of the Cardinals setup men. Since joining the Cardinals he has been solid with a 2.14 ERA over 18 2/3 innings. Do not expect Cishek to get any more save opportunities over the last couple week of the season.
