Jimmy Rollins returns to Dodgers' lineup

by Eric Westlund | Thu, Sep 24th 3:37am EDT

Jimmy Rollins returned to the Dodgers' starting lineup on Wednesday for the first time since September 6, as the veteran has been battling a finger injury. He batted eighth and finished the game 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Fantasy Impact:

Rollins is one of many players who have served stints as the Dodgers' lead-off hitter this season, but it appears unlikely he will regain that role for the remainder of the season. Both Carl Crawford and Chase Utley appear to be better options against right-handed starters, while Justin Ruggiano or Howie Kendrick will likely bat first against lefties. Rollins is still a rare fantasy shortstop capable of going off for a steal and a homer in any given game, but his overall production and his standing in a crowded Dodgers lineup make him unworthy of fantasy consideration in most leagues for the rest of the season.
