Michael Wacha squares off against Jake Arrieta in Game 3

by Vinny Lanni | Royals Correspondent | Mon, Oct 12th 1:52pm EDT

Arrieta (23-6, 1.70), is 26-for-34 on quality starts this season, working on a ridiculous run of 14 in a row. Last Wednesday he pitched Chicago to victory in the National League wild-card game at Pittsburgh, throwing a complete-game, four-hit shutout, walking none while whiffing 11. And over his last four starts he's allowed zero runs and just 10 hits, with one walk against 38 strikeouts, through 31 innings. Wacha (17-7, 3.38) is 18-for-30 on quality starts, but 0 for his last three. Twelve days ago he got knocked around for six runs in four innings against Pittsburgh, and over his last three starts he's given up 13 runs through 14 innings. (SportsbookReview.com)

Fantasy Impact:

This is a pivotal Game 3 for both the Cubs and Cardinals. Arrieta has been an absolute beast for the Cubs this season and it's hard to imagine him slowing down any time soon. The Cards need a flawless-like outing from their ace, Wacha, if they hope to contend in this game. Wacha has not dominated to the extent of Arrieta this season, but he should post a quality start against the Cubs. Look for a low-scoring, scrappy game between these two clubs on Monday afternoon.
