Alex Avila an option for the White Sox at catcher

by Chris Zolli | Tue, Dec 1st 1:26pm EST

New White Sox catcher Alex Avila could fill the need for Chicago as the starter with Tyler Flowers disappointing for the North siders. Avila was limited to only 67 games in 2015, but the left-handed hitter could provide a stable offensive option for the White Sox. (Chicago Tribune)

Fantasy Impact:

The 28-year-old veteran could be a cheap option at catcher for the White Sox if he can build on his .339 OBP from 2015. He is far from his .895 OPS in his All-Star 2011 season, and has not posted a .700 OPS since 2012, but his improved plate discipline from 2015 could signal a rebound in 2016. Fantasy owners should not trust Avila based on his track run, but he is a cheap option at catcher and could be worth a late-round flier.
