Stephen Vogt has minor elbow surgery

by Eric Townsend | Sat, Jan 30th 12:18am EST

Stephen Vogt had arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow on Friday to remove a bone chip as well as some dead tissue. He is expected to be healthy before Opening Day. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Vogt burst onto the fantasy scene last year in his first season as a regular starter (136 GP), becoming an All-Star, and landing as the sixth catcher on the player rater. While everything seems to have gone well with the surgery, and though he should be back for Opening Day, his status should be closely monitored during Spring Training. It might be best to drop him a few spots in your rankings as a safety precaution, especially if your draft day is rather early.
