James Shields allowed four runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings against the White Sox on Friday. He had two walks and one strikeout in the outing.
Fantasy Impact:
The move to the spacious Petco Park did not have the expected results for Shields, as he posted his worst ERA and WHIP since 2010 (3.91/1.33), though his K-rate did make a significant jump to 9.61 K/9. The biggest issue for Shields last season was allowing homers, giving up 33 in 2015 (tied for most in MLB). Shields has always been prone to gopheritis, and wins will be minimal on a bad Padres team, so draft with caution, this is not the "Big Game James" you are looking for (39th SP, 139th Overall ADP).
