Mark Teixeira limps to a weak opening performance

by Chris Zolli | Tue, Apr 5th 8:34pm EDT

Mark Teixeira was 0-for-3 with a walk in the Yankees' 5-3 Opening Day loss to the Astros. Teixeira was part of the top four of the Yankee lineup that went hitless and continued on his poor performance from Spring Training (7-for-50).

Fantasy Impact:

Teixeira had 31 home runs in 111 games last season, his ninth 30 home run season, but had his season end on September 7th with a shin injury. The injury, which occured on August 17th, ended a season where Teixeira had a .906 OPS and had him on target for 40 home runs and 100 RBI. Those benchmarks may not be attainable for the 2016 season, but a healthy Teixeira should be a top-15 1B and a strong run production option.
