A.J. Griffin effective in first start in over two years

A.J. Griffin allowed three runs over six innings to lead the Texas Rangers to a 7-3 win over the Angels Friday. Griffin walked two and struck out one in his first start since September 24, 2013.

Fantasy Impact:

The former Oakland A's prospect, who compiled a 21-11 record over two seasons with the A's, missed the last two years with Tommy John surgery. He had his struggles during the spring (1-2, 6.00 ERA), but the Rangers brass wanted to give him the chance to be the fifth starter. The Rangers had to designate Justin Ruggiano for assignment to add Griffin to the roster.
