Escobar has reached base safely at least three times in four of the Angels eight games so far. Getting on base is exactly what a leadoff hitter is expected to do and Escobar has thrived in this role. Escobar has never been a primary leadoff man, but the Angels have asked him to leadoff and he has responded by hitting .314 with a .389 on base percent.
