Jean Segura cooling off after hot start
by Tony Pontecorvo | Mon, Apr 18th 7:37pm EDT
After a scorching spring earned him a regular role atop the Diamondbacks' starting lineup, second baseman Jean Segura carried his hot streak into the season; but since a leadoff single Friday against the Dodgers, Segura is 1-for-13, watching his early-season average go from .429 to .333.
Fantasy Impact:
Segura was a revelation during spring training and the injury to A.J. Pollock further ensconced Segura as the regular second baseman, as it allowed Chris Owings to get at-bats in center field. Though the current stat line is still pretty (three home runs, two stolen bases), be wary that this swoon may be a regression to the norm more than a brief cold stretch.
