Prince Fielder snaps hitting streak in loss to White Sox

by Chris Zolli | Sun, Apr 24th 9:40am EDT

Prince Fielder went 0-for-5 with a strikeout in the Rangers' 4-3 loss to the White Sox on Saturday. Although he only has a .188 batting average, Fielder did have a five-game hitting streak coming into Saturday's contest.

Fantasy Impact:

Fantasy owners have been frustrated with Fielder's low batting average and lack of extra-base hits, three, but he is fourth in the American League with 14 RBI. While it is nice that Fielder is on the mark in run production, that is a statistic that is completely dependent on opportunities; fortunately for Fielder, the players in front of him in the lineup (Delino DeShields, Adrian Beltre, and Nomar Mazara), have elite on-base potential. The power will come for Fielder and as long as he cashes in on his run producing opportunities, he is a top-10 1B with top-five potential.
