Adam LaRoche retires over dispute over his son being in clubhouse

Adam LaRoche walked away from baseball and a $13 million salary for this season. He chose to step away after team president Kenny Williams asked LaRoche to limit how often he brings his 14 year-old son to the clubhouse. Williams stated that LaRoche's son Drake had been present 100 percent of the time. Williams said the White Sox have no problem with players' children being around, but he felt like LaRoche needed to dial it back.

Fantasy Impact

LaRoche had a horrible season in 2015. He hit .207 and only 12 HR. He did not have much value going into fantasy drafts. His absence will leave a big hole in the White Sox lineup. His departure could mean more at-bats for guys like Austin Jackson, Jimmy Rollins or anyone they may promote.

Adam LaRoche contemplating stepping away from baseball

Adam LaRoche, who had struggled last season, is considering stepping away from baseball for a personal issue. Out of respect for the White Sox and his teammates, he is taking a few days to think it over. If LaRoche retires, the White Sox will be without a designated hitter.

Fantasy Impact

If LaRoche retires, they will be losing a left-handed hitter and veteran presence in the locker room. LaRoche is not projected to make a big fantasy impact, but his absence could give some of their other players a chance for a bigger role. Austin Jackson could see more playing time as they use Avisail Garcia or Melky Cabrera in the DH position throughout the season.

Adam LaRoche not finishing the season strong

Adam LaRoche only has a .182 batting average, one extra-base hit, and one RBI in September.

Fantasy Impact

LaRoche only has a .189 batting average in the second half and 12 home runs and 44 RBI for the season, showing that he is far from the player who had 26 home runs and 92 RBI a season ago. He has an abysmal .387 OPS against left-handed pitchers this season, with only three doubles, and has a .645 OPS for the season. His .847 OPS in May was the only month where he had an OPS over .700 and he is not worthy of a fantasy roster position.

Adam LaRoche hit his 21st double on Tuesday

The White Sox and Twins battled back and forth on Tuesday. However, the Twins rallied to take the lead and win 8-6. In the White Sox' loss, Adam LaRoche went 2-for-4 including his 21st double. He also scored a run and had one strikeout.

Fantasy Impact

LaRoche has been a big disappointment this year. He is hitting .215; way below his .260 career average. LaRoche has hit 12 HR this year though, so he still has value in DFS leagues as a low-cost, high-risk option.

Adam LaRoche hits a double and two-run HR on Sunday

Adam LaRoche had one of his better games of the season on Sunday. He went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer. He finished with two RBI and two runs scored.

Fantasy Impact

Adam LaRoche has struggled this year. He has the ability to hit the long ball and could make for a minimum to low-priced salary option in daily leagues. He has two HR in the last seven games. The problem is that his risk is very high. He is only hitting .213 on the season.
