Ian Kinsler (2B)

Detroit Tigers - 98% owned

(?)
Bats: R, Throws: R

Ian Kinsler gave the Detroit Tigers offense a jolt Tuesday night, as he went 2-for-5 with three RBI, including his 10th home run of the season. The homer was a two-run blast in the seventh inning, which ended up providing the winning margin as the Tigers won 6-5.

Fantasy Impact: Kinsler is not the reason the Tigers are in the AL Central basement. Kinsler is now hitting .306 on the season with 84 runs scored, 32 doubles, 64 RBI and 10 HR. Despite the Tigers record of 2-8 in their last ten games, Kinsler has actually raised his season average in that span. It is good to see a veteran like Kinsler playing out the season hard, even if his team has fallen out of playoff contention. Kinsler is a gamer and he should be in your fantasy lineup every day.

Fantasy Impact: Kinsler continued his elite run production, and is now sixth in MLB with 82 runs scored this year. He is one of the best options at second base this year, and will continue to score more runs going forward with Miguel Cabrera back with the Tigers.

Ian Kinsler got another hit on Friday, giving him a four-game hitting streak. In those four games, he is hitting .500 with two doubles, a triple, and a home run. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Kinsler has been one of the bright spots offensively for the Tigers this season. He is clearly an upper-tier option at second base, though his potential RBI contribution is slightly limited by the fact that he bats leadoff and does not have a lot of power.

Ian Kinsler sparked a rally for Detroit on Wednesday night, as the struggling Tigers got a much needed win versus the AL Central-leading Kansas City Royals. Kinsler, hitting in the three-hole with Miguel Cabrera out, went 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Fantasy Impact: Kinsler is hitting .379 over the past seven days, and is now seventh in the American League in runs scored. In the process, he has raised his average to .300 for the season (25 points above his career average). While the power numbers are not there yet this year (just six home runs), his production should only increase with the news of Miguel Cabrera expected to return to the lineup Friday. Cabrera's presence and protection for the other batters in the lineup cannot be overstated. A consistently good fantasy producer at a weak position, Kinsler could be a valuable asset to trade for down the stretch if you can swing it. Do not be surprised if Kinsler really takes off in the next month with the return of Cabrera and Detroit's playoff hopes on the line.

Kinsler and the Tigers are heading to Fenway park to take on the Boston Red Sox Friday. Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello will toe the slab for Boston. In 10 career ab's Kinsler has six hits with four RBI, and two stolen bases while sporting a 1.445 ops.

Fantasy Impact: Kinsler is coming off a three game set against Seattle where he went 8-for-16 and was seemingly on base the entire series. Kinsler's current trend combined with past success against Rick Porcello should spell a great day at the ballpark for Detroit's second baseman.

Kinsler got the game started with a bang Thursday, homering in the top of the first inning off Twins starter Mike Pelfrey.

Fantasy Impact: The home run was Kinsler's 32nd career lead off homer. Kinsler's power numbers are down so far in 2015, however he still provides plenty of offensive production for fantasy owners. Second Base is not as weak a position as it has been in the past. That being said Kinsler is still a guy that should be active in the majority of leagues.

Kinsler went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI.

Fantasy Impact: He has slightly declined from his peak but he is still a good fantasy second basemen in a very good lineup. He should be owned in most leagues and started in many.

Ian Kinsler has four straight seasons of 13+ HR and 70+ RBI which has made him a heavyweight at the second base position in fantasy. This season that power has waned as after 74 games, he has 2 HR and 30 RBI.

Fantasy Impact: Kinsler is still usable at second base, partially due to scoring 45 runs. He should be owned in medium leagues. Players with under-performing second basemen in shallow leagues should monitor to see if he regains his old form.

Ian Kinsler in a cold spell

Ian Kinsler is 3-for-23 in his past six games with three runs scored and zero RBI.

Fantasy Impact: He is behind the pace in most of his categories but he is still a top 12 second basemen in fantasy who has scored 39 runs this season so he should be owned in virtually all leagues.

Ian Kinsler drove in his 26th run of the season on Sunday afternoon against Cleveland. He finished the day 1-for-3 and also scored a run.

Fantasy Impact: Kinsler has hit safely in eight of his last ten games, with five multi-hit games in that span.

Outside of his batting average and stolen bases which is normal, Kinsler is below the pace of his 2014 season. The most jarring drop is in his HR where he hit 17 last year in 161 games but only has ONE in 58 games this season.

Fantasy Impact: Ian Kinsler is still a valuable fantasy piece as he plays a shallow position at second base. He should still be considered one of the 10 best fantasy second basemen.

Ian Kinlser saw 10 pitches in his first at-bat and battled for 9 in his second, but couldn't find a hit in a 12-2 loss.

Fantasy Impact: He saw the ball well, but couldn't find a hit. He has been swinging for the fences early in the count. He'll eventually find power. Look for him to find success against good pitchers that throw strikes early.

Ian Kinsler scored the only run in a 2-1 loss to the Cardinals. He went 2-for-3 and boosted his average to .318. He also added a walk.

Fantasy Impact: Kinsler reached on a bunt and stole a base. All against a righty. He is capable of putting up monster numbers from the two spot. He is licking his chops awaiting Milwaukee's pitching staff.

Ian Kinsler hits walk-off single

By Brendan Ross

Ian Kinsler went 2-for-5 on Tuesday against the Twins, including a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to send the Tigers home winners.

Fantasy Impact: Kinsler also had a double in the game. Although lacking in power this season, Kinsler has still hit well with a triple slash of .308/.381/.385. Kinsler also has 16 RBI and three stolen bases this season.

Ian Kinsler went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in the Tigers 2-1 loss to the Royals on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Kinsler is slashing .304/.380/.376 so far this season and has yet to hit a home run. He's been productive and is one of the better 2B, so hopefully the power will come along a bit as the season progresses.

Ian Kinsler had been struggling of late. He has also had some bad luck recently, but hit the ball hard today and was rewarded. The win stopped a two-game skid against the division leading Royals.

Fantasy Impact: Expect Kinsler's confidence to boost and start collecting hits in bunches. Kinsler is hitting .333 with a home run in 42 at-bats against Sunday's pitcher, Jeremy Guthrie.

Detroit's second baseman Ian Kinsler (in a 5-4 win over Minnesota) had one hit in five at bats on Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Despite the recent lackluster performance, Kinsler is still one of the premier second baseman in the league right now and should continually be starting in all fantasy leagues moving forward.

Ian Kinsler went 4-for-5 with two RBI as the Tigers beat the Indians 9-6 on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: All four of Kinsler's hits were singles. Kinsler also scored three runs in the high-scoring affair. The second baseman is now batting 10-for-22 (.455) with seven RBI and eight runs scored in five games this season. Kinsler looks to be a very reliable option in multiple categories again this season.

In a blowout win Wednesday against the Twins, Ian Kinsler went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored.

Fantasy Impact: Kinsler looks poised to have another good year with the Tigers, after posting an fWAR of 5.1 with last season. Kinsler hits second in a potent lineup, followed by Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, J.D. Martinez, and Yoenis Cespedes. If Kinsler can keep his BA and OBP high enough, he could repeat his 15 SB from last season, although he probably won't cross home plate 100 times like last season, although it is a possibility.

The HR broke a 18 1/3 inning scoreless streak for the Tigers. Kinsler has been battling a sore shoulder and had been out of the lineup since March 12th.

Fantasy Impact: The HR after his return is encouraging. The injury may still motivate coach Brad Ausmus to carry another middle infielder. The gritty second baseman's injury is not a major concern, however. It will take more than a sore shoulder to keep him out of the lineup come Opening Day.

Ian Kinsler doubles and scores

Sat, Mar 7th 5:43pm EST
By Nathan Burns

Kinsler led off the game with a double and scored. He also added a walk in the 4th.

Fantasy Impact: The Tigers are relying on 150+ games and 100 runs out of the 4 time All-Star. The top tier 2B can fill up the entire stat sheet making him a huge value. Hernan Perez is the likely backup, but offers no threat to Kinsler's playing time.
