San Francisco Giants - 4% owned

Bats: R, Throws: R

The Rockies wasted no time in dispatching Ryan Vogelsong from the mound. Volgesong lasted just three innings giving up 11 hits, seven earned runs, and striking out just one batter. The good news is that he didn't walk a batter in the

Fantasy Impact: Ryan Vogelsong should only be owned in the deepest of leagues and started only in San Francisco. At this point, you may not want any of the Giants, their 2015 season can now be located in the waste basket.

San Francisco Giants right-hander Ryan Vogelsong followed up a six inning shutout last outing with a 3 1/3 inning struggle on Sunday in a 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. He gave up three runs (all in the first inning), seven hits, four walks and struck out two.

Fantasy Impact: Ryan Vogelsong spent some time in the bullpen for the Giants before he was placed back in the rotation when Mike Leake was sent to the DL. Since his return to the rotation, Vogelsong is 2-2 with a 3.48 ERA and has been mildly inconsistent. If Vogelsong makes another start for the Giants be cautious in choosing him for your starting lineup as he has lasted four innings or less in two of his last four outings.

Ryan Vogelsong takes the victory against the St. Louis Cardinals. Vogelsong pitched six innings giving up just two hits and one walk. He also had five strikeouts.

Fantasy Impact: Ryan Vogelsong just doesn't offer enough value to have him on your roster in any league. If a player goes down because of injury, however, keep him in mind, he has really pitched well his last three games. He has given up just four runs in 15 innings pitched.

Mike Leake will get another rest, and that means Ryan Vogelsong will take the mound for today's contest against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fantasy Impact: Ryan Vogelsong offers no value at this moment as he has been regulated to bullpen duties until Leake returns, which will probably be his next scheduled start.

Ryan Vogelsong will take Mike Leake's spot in the rotation for the second time on Thursday night at home against the Washington Nationals. Leake was placed on the DL on August 3 with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact: Vogelsong's first start for Leake didn't go so well. He gave up three runs in four innings pitched against the Chicago Cubs on August 7. In six regular season starts against the Washington Nationals, he is 1-2 with a 7.09 ERA. Vogelsong should have better success at home with his second start in five games.

Ryan Vogelsong will take the mound today for the San Francisco Giants as they try to stop their five-game losing streak.

Fantasy Impact: Ryan Vogelsong has been pretty solid lately. In his last seven match-ups, he has a 3-4 record with 30 strikeouts in 41 innings and a 3.73 ERA. In his last three starts he has really shined, He has a 2-1 record with 14 strikeouts in 18.2 innings while allowing just four earned runs for a 1.98 ERA.

Two Shades of Ryan Vogelsong

Tue, Jun 30th 10:16pm EDT
By Michael Valverde

Ryan Vogelsong had an interesting day on the mound. He gave up four runs in three innings, then no runs his next three. He pitched 88 pitches and gave up four earned on seven hits and walked three and struck out four.

Fantasy Impact: With Matt Cain and Jake Peavy arriving back in San Francisco in a few days, this may be the last we see in him as a starter.

Category: , Game Recaps

Ryan Vogelsong goes 6.2 innings striking out six, and allowing just three hits and walking two. He threw 102 pitches with 63 being strikes, he also picked up the win in the process.

Fantasy Impact: Ryan Vogelsong has been up and down all season. He will pitch a gem like tonight, and just look ugly in the following game. He is a good streaming pitcher, but with Matt Cain and Jake Peavy in Sacramento, one has to wonder how long Voggie will last as the starting pitcher?

Category: , Game Recaps

Starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong only pitched 3.2 innings, He gave up four earned runs, six hits, five walks, and one strikeout, Not the kind of outing that any pitcher would want,

Fantasy Impact: Ryan Vogelsong has had an up and down season, and when he is off, it can get ugly, today was no different, He can be a solid stream pitcher if you're in a deeper league, other than that he offers little value.

Ryan Vogelsong stymies Brewers

Wed, May 27th 4:53pm EDT
By Jeff Krisko

Ryan Vogelsong scattered six hits across six innings, striking out five and walking none while allowing one earned run.

Fantasy Impact: The Brewers threatened twice, as two of the hits were Khris Davis triples, but he didn't score either time. Vogelsong was a disaster in April, but his four earned runs in five starts in May has lowered his ERA to 4.24 on the season (after having three starts of four earned runs or more in April). He's slated to start June 1 at home versus the Pirates. He may be worth a stream or a sneaky DFS play given his hot streak.

Ryan Vogelsong shut out the Padres in seven innings, striking out four and walking two. He allowed only three hits. His season ERA now sits at 6.84

Fantasy Impact: Vogelsong's seven scoreless innings match the number of scoreless innings he had in his last three games combined. This likely isn't a portend of things to come with Vogelsong, so he still isn't fantasy relevant but may start being worth a matchup look in deep fantasy leagues. The Padres still haven't scored a run this series.

Ryan Vogelsong yielded six runs on four home runs in three innings pitched. He struck out two and walked one.

Fantasy Impact: Vogelsong may have nothing left in the tank. There is absolutely no reason to own him in any leagues or start him in any DFS play unless he turns things around.

Ryan Vogelsong shelled in relief

Sat, Apr 11th 11:59pm EDT
By Jeff Krisko

Ryan Vogelsong came on in mop up duty for Madison Bumgarner and yielded four earned runs in 3.2 IP.

Fantasy Impact: Ouch. This is after Vogelsong gave up seven in 4.2 innings pitched in his first start of the season. Vogelsong, 37, may be running out of gas. There is no reason to own him in any format.

Category: , Game Recaps

Ryan Vogelsong gave up seven earned runs on six hits and four walks, chipping in five strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact: Vogelsong was getting knocked around almost from the word go. Three of the runs came on a Jeremy Lamb home run that knocked Vogelsong out of the fifth. He isn't even a streaming option in NL-only leagues for the time being.

Ryan Vogelsong is slotted in as the starter for game two of the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Vogelsong finished last season with eight wins and 13 losses. (Source: SF Giants on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Despite the 8-13 record from the 2014 season, starting Vogelsong tonight is a wise move. Vogelsong is a sound pitcher who had a 3.90 ERA and WHIP of 1.28 in 2014. Expect a lower ERA and slightly lower WHIP in 2015. If Vogelsong is available in your league, he would make a good addition for tonight.

Ryan Vogelsong was given four and two thirds innings in his fourth spring training start, and only allowed two hits, two walks, and struck out four. He took a hard shot off his shin in the first inning, but managed to shake it off and continue playing.

Fantasy Impact: Vogelsong had looked extremely shaky in his first three starts, coming into this game with a 9.39 earned run average. He had a below average season last year, finishing with a 4.00 earned run average and an 8-13 record, so he should not be high on anybody's draft sheet.

Ryan Vogelsong returns to Giants

"Vogey" will return to the Giants on a one-year, $4 million deal. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Ryan Vogelsong had multiple suitors this offseason, as his name was tied to the Twins, Rockies and Astros before he decided to return to the City by the Bay. Vogelsong had a miserable 2013 campaign, but bounced back slightly to the tune of a 4.00 and a 1.29 WHIP in 2014. His 7.36 K/9 was good for 19th in the NL among starters. He'll be 38 before the 2015 campaign is over & is likely not worth a roster slot on draft day. In 16 home starts last season, he had a 3.06 ERA & a 1.07 WHIP while giving up only two home runs. If he keeps this up, Vogelsong at home is a viable 2015 streaming option, especially in deeper or NL-only leagues.

The Colorado Rockies have had discussions with free agent starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong. (Source: Jon Morosi on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The Rockies are in need of rotation help and according to Jon Morosi, they want a right handed starter. Vogelsong went 8-13 with a 4.00 ERA in 184.2 innings last season for the San Francisco Giants. He is nothing more than an innings eater and making a move to Coors Field will more than likely not bode well for him. Do not draft Vogelsong in any drafts, he is a plug-and-play based on match-ups in daily leagues at this stage in his career.

Fantasy Impact: Since his return from his stint in Japan, Vogelsong has been up-and-down for the Giants. He lit the world on fire with a 2.71 ERA in 2011 and 3.37 in 2012, but since then he has had an ERA over 4.00. "Vogey" plays in the NL West, which slightly inflated his numbers. In a resurgent AL Central and in his age 38 season, Vogelsong offers little value.
