Out of the starting rotation, Wandy Rodriguez had his second consecutive poor relief appearance. This time, he came on in relief of Martin Perez and surrendered seven runs on six hits in just one inning of work.

Fantasy Impact: Rodriguez had a nice little roll earlier in the season, but he has had his struggles of late. The veteran watched his ERA climb to 4.90 on the season after today's performance.

Wandy Rodriguez allowed three hits and one run in 5.1 innings to earn his first home win of the season as the Rangers defeated San Diego 4-3. Rodriguez (6-4) walked two and struck out five on the day.

Fantasy Impact: Rodriguez needed 91 pitches to get through 5.1 innings, leaving with a 4-1 lead. This was a decent performance out of Rodriguez, especially coming off a rough outing against the Angels his last time out.

It was another sad night for the hometown fans tonight as the visiting Los Angeles Angels shutout the Rangers 13-0. Starter Wandy Rodriguez was torched for nine hits and five runs in five innings of work. Rodriguez walked three and struck out two on the night.

Fantasy Impact: Just a few weeks ago, the Texas starting rotation was stringing together quality start after quality start. Except for Yovani Gallardo, who continues to throw exceptionally well, the rest of the staff has been inconsistent at best. Two starts ago, Rodriguez gave up 11 hits and eight runs in four innings to the A's. Then bounced back his last time out, limiting Baltimore to just one run over five innings. With the Rangers offense having a difficult time scoring runs of late, the starters have got to get the job done.

Wandy Rodriguez had his poorest outing of the season as he gave up 11 hits and eight earned runs in just four innings of work as the last place Oakland A's hammered the Rangers 8-2. Rodriguez walked three and struck out four on the night, and watched his ERA climb to 4.06.

Fantasy Impact: Last week, Rodriguez outdueled reigning Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw. Tonight, he was outpitched by Kendall Graveman. Baseball is a funny game.

When Wandy Rodriguez starts for Texas, good things usually happen, and that was the case tonight as the crafty lefty outdueled Clayton Kershaw in the Rangers 5-3 victory. Rodriguez didn't have his best stuff, as he allowed nine hits and three runs over just 5.1 innings, but was able to work himself out of several early inning jams.

Fantasy Impact: Rodriguez pitched like the true veteran he is tonight. The Dodgers had runners on first and second in each of the first two innings and came away empty thanks to Rodriguez making the right pitch at the right time. He only struck out one tonight, but he got the "W" to raise his season mark to 4-2.

It was another solid performance for Wandy Rodriguez tonight as the veteran lefty limited the Minnesota Twins to just three hits and one run over 6.2 innings in the Rangers 6-2 victory. Rodriguez did not figure in the decision as he left the game in the seventh with the Rangers trailing 1-0. Rodriguez walked three and struck out six. (Source:

Fantasy Impact: As I've mentioned previously, GM Jon Daniels should be given a lot of credit for picking up Rodriguez off of the discard pile at the end of spring. He's been outstanding for the team and his veteran presence has been a key to the success of the rest of the staff.

Wandy Rodriguez continued his magical comeback from the dustbin of baseball, allowing just six hits and one run over seven innings of work to lead the Rangers to a 4-2 win over the Royals. Rodriguez struck out four and did not walk a batter in upping his record to 3-2. (Source:

Fantasy Impact: GM Jon Daniels takes a lot of grief from Rangers fans, but his pickup of Rodriguez after the Braves had released the veteran southpaw has proven to be a stroke of genius. With the injuries to Yu Darvish and Derek Holland, and the ineffectiveness of off-season pickup Ross Detwiler, Rodriguez has proven to be a stabilizing force in the rotation.

No decision for Wandy Rodriguez

Sun, May 31st 8:04pm EDT
By Mitch Cox

Wandy Rodriguez tossed 5.2 innings, allowing nine hits and three runs (two earned) in the Rangers come-from-behind win over Boston today. Rodriguez did not walk a batter and struck out four on the day. (Source:

Fantasy Impact: Not a great start, but not a bad one either as Rodriguez kept the game close enough for the Rangers to win in the bottom of the ninth on Josh Hamilton's pinch-hit, two-run double.

After back-to-back outstanding performances, Rodriguez struggled tonight against the Indians, surrendering eight hits and five runs in just 4.2 innings of work. Rodriguez walked one and struck out two in watching his record fall to 1-2.

Fantasy Impact: Rodriguez pitched great last time out but didn't get the win. This time, he pitched poorly and took the loss. Such is the life of a baseball player...

Wandy Rodriguez retired the first 15 hitters he faced today, and in the process set a new club record, as he led the Rangers to a 2-1 victory over Tampa Bay. Rodriguez retired a club record 34 batters in a row over his last two games with the streak ending on a Tim Beckham sixth-inning single.

Fantasy Impact: Rodriguez was fantastic, going 6.1 innings and allowing just two hits and one run, while walking one and striking out six. The only downside, fantasy wise, is that he didn't get the "W" as that went to reliever Keone Kela who improved to 3-1.

Wandy Rodriguez took the hill for the second time as a Ranger today and the results were not good. The veteran southpaw allowed five hits and four runs, walked five and struck out three in the Rangers 5-2 loss to Seattle.

Fantasy Impact: The Rangers offense, such as it is, actually scored two runs today off "King Felix" but that wasn't nearly enough to cover up Rodriguez's shaky outing. Right now, it's tough to recommend any Rangers pitcher because even when they do throw well, they get no run support. Nick Martinez has been fabulous so far, but history says that won't last.

Three days after being released by the Atlanta Braves, the Texas Rangers have signed veteran southpaw Wandy Rodriguez to a minor league deal. (Source:

Fantasy Impact: Under the heading "You can never have enough pitching," the Rangers inked the veteran Rodriguez to a deal and will send him to Triple-A Round Rock. With the amount of injuries the Rangers have sustained the past year or two, especially to the pitching staff, this signing is a no-brainer. Rodriguez was 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA for the Pirates last year before being released. The 10-year veteran has a career record of 91-94 with a 4.06 ERA.

It was just two weeks ago the manager Fredi Gonzalez announced that Wandy had earned the 4th rotation spot on the club. Rodriguez pitched well this spring, posting a 3.13 ERA and a 23/8 K/BB ratio over 23 innings. He should be able to catch on elsewhere. (Source: Mark Bowman on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Wandy is an innings eater and we'll have to see where he lands next to determine actual fantasy value. But he proved this spring that he still has some worth in fantasy.

Category: , Transactions

Rodriguez pitched for five innings, allowing eight hits and three earned runs while striking out another eight and giving up a homer to Jed Lowrie. Manager Fredi Gonzalez has already stated that Wandy will be his fourth starter to begin the season.

Fantasy Impact: So it goes with Rodriguez, up and down and all around. He throws strikes and chews up innings but if drafted, he had better be your last pick. The Braves will likely be sub .500 this year as will Wandy's won-loss record.

He allowed a pair of home runs and three doubles in five innings of work. This was his first 'rough' outing of the spring, but as we have seen in prior games, he has done very well. He is 2-0 thus far with a 2.50 ERA along with a 1.22 WHIP in 18 innings so far this spring. (Source: Michael Cunningham)

Fantasy Impact: This is classic Wandy. He is inconsistent at times but is usually a good value at the back end of rotations in mid size and higher leagues. Wandy has nailed down the 4th rotation spot for the Braves this year and will have value.

Category: , Game Recaps

He'll pitch behind Julio Teheran, Alex Wood, and Shelby Miller. Manager Fredi Gonzalez believes Wandy offers a veteran presence and has earned his spot. The fifth spot in the rotation is now between Eric Stultz, Mike Foltynewicz, and Cody Martin, with Manny Banuelos likely headed to the bullpen. (Source: David O'Brien)

Fantasy Impact: Wandy is best left for those in deeper leagues who need 10 or more starting pitchers. His best days are behind him but he will give you some innings.

Wandy Rodriguez continued his good work so far in 2015 with another scoreless outing. He threw 4 scoreless allowing only 2 hits and no runs. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: With Mike Minor's injury and the struggles of Foltynewicz, Wandy Rodriguez is assumed to be a lock to win a spot in the Braves rotation when the season gets underway. He has yet to allow a run so far in spring training and looks to have completely recovered from his season ending injury last year.

Category: , Game Recaps

It's a big improvement over his first start against the Mets, when he was pulled after one inning, but had been scheduled to pitch two frames. And therein lies the problem with Rodriguez, he is inconsistent. Nonetheless, he could very well nab a rotation spot, especially with the shoulder problems that Mike Minor is having.

Fantasy Impact: Rodriguez is just not draft worthy, even if he nails a rotation spot.

The agreement comes with a spring training invite so Wandy will be competing for the fifth spot in the pitching rotation. He had an agreement with the Phillies but failed the physical. (Source: David O'Brien on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rodriquez had a dismal 2014 with the Pirates, with a 6.75 ERA and 1.69 WHIP over 26 2/3 innings. He is not even close to being on the fantasy radar.

The Philadelphia Phillies reportedly signed Rodriguez to a minor league deal, pending a physical. Rodriguez was hampered due to injuries the past two seasons with the Pirates. He made just six starts in 2014 and appeared in only 12 games in 2013. (Source:

Fantasy Impact: Although Rodriguez was just 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA this past season, he posted solid seasons from 2008 through 2013. He had 10 ore more wins in each season from 2009 through 2012, while averaging 169 strikeouts and an ERA well under 4. With the Phillies lacking in depth in the rotation, Rodriguez could make a push for a spot in the rotation. Should Rodriguez make the Phillies roster, he could be a solid extra starter in deep fantasy leagues.
