Clippers offering max deal for DeAndre Jordan? Doc Rivers thinks so

This is likely the only way the Clippers can get Jordan to stay. The Mavericks are still in the picture for his services, but they can't offer him a five-year, $109 million deal like the Clippers can. The most any other team can offer him is a four-year, $81 million deal. Despite the poor free-throw shooting and lack of a jumper, his elite dunking and offensive rebounding make him worth every penny of a max deal. He's arguably the league's best combination of those two skills, and the Clippers have no championship hopes without him. If Jordan signed a four-year max deal somewhere else, he'd be 30 when he becomes a free agent in 2019-20. His age would likely doom him from getting the nearly $25 million the Clippers would owe him that year if he signed a five-year max contract with Los Angeles. If Jordan wants to leave, then he will, even if he's sacrificing some money and job security in the process. That won't stop the organization from playing their five-year max deal trump card, though.
