Metta World Peace scored 18 points on 41 percent shooting from the field in the Lakers' 108-96 win over the Pelicans on Tuesday night. World Peace added four boards, four triples, four steals and a dime in 25 minutes off the bench.
Fantasy Impact
The man formerly known as Ron Artest of Malice at the Palace fame may be done playing basketball. As this is likely his final season, it was nice to see the 17-year veteran go out with a bang in his final game in Los Angeles - the land of his redemption. You never failed to entertain Metta, thanks for the memories.
Metta World Peace will re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Fantasy Impact
Metta World Peace will be the veteran voice on a young Lakers team. Last season Metta averaged five points per and two rebounds. Metta has zero fantasy relevance.
With Kobe Bryant sitting out Tuesday's game in Miami, Metta World Peace is starting in his place at small forward.
Fantasy Impact
World Peace has played only a total of 33 minutes so far this season, so don't expect an extended run of time on the court in Miami for the soon-to-be 36-year-old. We assumeLou Williams, Jordan Clarkson, and D'Angelo Russell will see more minutes in a three-guard lineup for the Lakers.
Metta World Peace made his season debut Friday at Brooklyn and Sunday at New York. His presence will provide another veteran leader to a young team that's growing for the future. World Peace had 8 points, four rebounds and an assist, steal and block in just 16 minutes in Sunday's 99-95 loss to the Knicks.
Fantasy Impact
Metta World Peace likely isn't going to help your fantasy squad win any season-long or daily fantasy championships, but he will help calm a young team on the court. Look for him to provide 15-20 minutes off the bench moving forward.
The Lakers have had discussions about possibly signing free agent forward Metta World Peace. No deal has been agreed upon, but World Peace's representatives have had talks with the Lakers. The veteran forward has not played in the NBA since being cut by the Knicks in the 2013-14 season.
Fantasy Impact
With the Lakers thin at small forward, the possibility of a reunion with World Peace makes sense logically. Realistically it probably will never happen for obvious reasons. The former Ron Artist is 35, he struggled the last time around in the NBA, and Kobe Bryant does not like him. So do not get too excited about World Peace's chances of having a fantasy impact or even making an NBA roster again.
