Andre Ellington adds an estimated 8-10 lbs

Cardinal GM Steve Keim reported Thursday that RB Andre Ellington looks as though he added approximately 8-10 pounds in the off season. (Mike Jurecki on Twitter)

Keim also compared Ellington to Jamaal Charles and Chris Johnson in terms of size and skill. Ellington appears to be preparing for the expected increase in workload this season, although we would not expect him to reach 25-30 touches per game as HC Bruce Arians stated earlier this year. Ellington has RB1 upside, but with the Cards expected to use Jonathan Dwyer/Stepfan Taylor in short yardage/goal line packages, he remains more of an RB2. Cards begin practices tomorrow and we will keep an eye on Ellington's usage.
