Roethlisberger headed for a new contract?

by Dave Carroll | Fri, Jul 25th 4:52pm EDT

Roethlisberger signed an 8 year 102 million dollar contract in 2008. With 2 years left on that contract, team president Art Rooney II told steelers.com, "he met with Roethlisberger last month and that the Steelers have also talked to Ryan Tollner, Roethlisberger's agent, about their intention of getting a new contract done with their franchise quarterback after this season." (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

The Steelers almost never negotiate during the season. Given the fact that Roethlisberger has 2 years remaining on his contract, shows the Steelers do not want the circus involved with playing and negotiating during the last year of a deal. Expect Roethlisberger to make this season his season to shine, thus giving him more leverage during the negotiations. With the speedy Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton at his disposal, he may try to stretch the field more to add to his yardage and TD totals. This may cause a slight bump in his current ADP of 126 overall and 16th ranked QB.
