Bernard to have similar workload as 2013

by Brian Hoffman | Mon, Jul 28th 10:14am EDT

After Sunday’s practice, running backs coach Kyle Caskey said of Bernard, "I don't know if it's the workload that's going to get more, it's more the type of plays that we're going to run with him in the game." (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Last season, Bernard had 170 carries and 56 catches. While it’s likely that he gets some sort of a bump in touches in his second year, the Bengals are being mindful of his workload. With more RBs than not in a RBBC, Bernard is still in a good position as the lead back on a team that commits to the run. However, Caskey implies that rookie Jeremy Hill will be heavily involved, capping Bernard’s upside at a very weak RB1 or reliable RB2. When you’re drafting, think 2013 Reggie Bush, not 2013 Jamaal Charles.
