McFadden has edge over MJD for starting job

by Scott Poppen | Wed, Jul 30th 5:21pm EDT

Sports Illustrated's Robert Klemko reports that "at this stage" Darren McFadden has the "starting edge" over Maurice Jones-Drew in the Raiders' backfield. (Rotoworld on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Expect to see these two veteran running backs splitting carries throughout the pre-season. McFadden has a history of injury, having missed 29 games over the past 6 seasons due to a laundry list of different ailments. Trusting him to remain ahead of Jones-Drew is a dicey decision at best. Any edge McFadden may have now would quickly be lost should the injury bug bite him again in 2014. Draft both players as nothing more than an RB3. McFadden may be the starter for now, but Jones-Drew is the better player.
