Dolphins’ first team offense opens preseason with TD drive

“It was a great first series, just the way we wanted to start the game,” Head Coach Joe Philbin said after halftime. “We had good balance on the drive.” While the report lists Tannehill as going 6 for 6 I do recall Miller bobbling a quick hitter in the flats that was ruled a catch which was not. Besides the drop, Lamar Miller hit holes quickly, kept the chains moving, and was efficient in his brief work. Brandon Gibson finished the drive with a short TD catch off of a play-action pass out of the shotgun. (Miami Dolphins website)

Fantasy Impact:

Even though it was an extremely small sample size, the new look Miami offense looked more rhythmic and aggressive than last season. Tannehill was decisive in his throws and distributed the ball quickly. As advertised, the offense featured screens and short passes to the running backs and receivers in space. Mike Wallace didn’t even play and already it’s easy to see he will be the man to target in an offense like this. It’s a good thing Miller was included in the pass game because Miami’s run-blocking will continue to be the weakness of this offense until Mike Pouncey returns.
