Vinatieri pushes 29 yard field goal wide during first preseason game

Vinatieri only made one of two field goals in the Colts first preseason game against the Jets. He uncharacteristically pushed a 29 yard attempt wide just before the end of the first half. (IndyStar)

Some people question how much longer Vinatieri can be one of the elite kickers in the NFL as he enters the season as one of the oldest players at 41 years of age. Although he missed a short field goal during the Colts first preseason game, there is no reason to worry because it was just that, a preseason game. Last year Vinatieri made a career high 35 field goals and converted 19 of 23 attempts from 40-plus yards out. He may be 41 years old, but his leg strength and accuracy are as good as ever. Expect another big season from Vinatieri as the Colts offense is expected to take another step forward towards being among the league's elite.
