Jones makes first start, records first catches as a Raider

Although the Raiders "official" depth chart to this point has listed Andre Holmes as the starting WR opposite Rod Streater, James Jones was in the starting lineup ahead of Holmes against the Lions on Friday night. Jones finished his stint with 2 catches for 29 yards.

Fantasy Impact:

There was speculation that listing Jones as a second-teamer was possibly a tactic of making sure the newcomer earns it, but with Jones' pedigree and a newly inked three-year, $11.3 million contract and with Holmes struggling in the preseason opener, it seemed inevitable that Jones would end up a starter. Coming off a year in which he tallied a career high 817 yards but just 3 touchdowns while struggling with nagging injuries after racking up 14 TDs in 2012, the Raiders and fantasy owners alike are hoping he can cement himself in the starting lineup and prove to be a solid WR3 / Flex option in 2014. Friday's starting nod was a positive indicator toward that.
