Disappointing game for Cutler against Seattle

by Dale Redman | Sat, Aug 23rd 12:11am EDT

In what is usually the final tune up for the starters before the regular season, Cutler came out flat in Seattle. Playing only the first half he failed to lead the Bears to any points in 4 drives. On the final drive Cutler had thrown a TD pass that was wiped out due to a questionable offensive pass interference penalty. Unfortunately the next play Cutler made one of his typical mistakes and tried to force a pass into tight coverage. The veteran QB finished 12 for 20 for 157 yards and an interception.

Fantasy Impact:

While it was a bad performance for Cutler, this was the top defense in 2013. His offensive line didn't help him out either as Seattle was in Cutler's face consistently. Cutler got sacked for the first time all preseason as well. Also, most of Cutler's passes were on the mark with Marshall and Jefferey having a few drops that you hope they would not have in the regular season. On the downside his interception was what you worry about with Cutler: bad decision making that leads to turnovers. After a couple of solid preseason games, Cutler showed why he is still a low end QB1 as he flashes big play ability but can be very inconsistent and prone to red zone turnovers. I would keep him ranked around the 12th QB as he won't be playing against the Super Bowl champs every week.
