RB Knowshon Moreno’s first carry for the Dolphins went for 19 yards in the first quarter. He recorded five rushes for 40 yards in the first quarter. His 40 first quarter rushing yards would be the seventh-most rushing yards in the first quarter of a regular season game in his career. The starters accumulated 94 first half rushing yards, all against Dallas’ starting defense. Miami finished the game with 200 rushing yards on 35 carries (5.7 avg.) and two rushing touchdowns. The last time the Dolphins rushed for 200 yards or more in a regular season game occurred on Sept. 16, 2012 against Buffalo. On that day, Miami rushed 43 times for 263 yards (6.1 avg.) and four rushing touchdowns. (MiamiDolphins.com)

Fantasy Impact:

What an explosive opening showcase for the newly signed free agent running back from Denver. Moreno was patient and aggressive and everything Dolphins fans expected out the gate. Looks like Shelley Smith will play RG and Colledge LG, both of which had productive games against a porous Dallas defense. If the line can establish some kind of run game during the first quarter of the season, then this offense is going to score a lot upon Pouncey’s return. Moreno fell to the 12th round in a deep 12 team keeper league I belong to, that’s looking like a great pick if he can stay healthy and continue to carve out his role for the Phins.
