Steelers may suspend Bell

by Dave Carroll | Mon, Aug 25th 6:29pm EDT

The Steelers could be without one or both of their top running backs when they open the regular season in two weeks against the visiting Cleveland Browns. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin reiterated Monday that Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount will be punished after getting arrested on marijuana possession charges Wednesday, shortly before the team flew to Philadelphia for a preseason game the following night. Tomlin said the Steelers have not ruled out suspending Bell, who was also charged with driving under the influence, and Blount. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

The Steelers are known for demanding their players not be a distraction to the team and tolerate very little. It would not be surprising to see the Steelers levy some type of discipline prior to any NFL decision. With fantasy drafts taking place now, there seems to be a couple of ways fantasy owners can take this bit of news. First, they can hope the Steelers do not suspend the players for any game time and draft Bell as they normally would. Maybe the best course of action would be to scan your waiver wire and see if Dri Archer is available. If so, you may want to consider picking him up and storing him on your bench. If Bell plays in week 1, then it can be assumed there was some other type of punishment levied to Bell and Archer could then be safely dropped.
