Bell may not be suspended by Steelers

The Steelers hands are tied by the collective bargaining agreement and any discipline they would issue to the players (Bell and Blount) would be subject to a grievance if it does not fall into line with the CBA. In fact, the CBA says they are NOT allowed to discipline them. Here, in the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement with the NFL Players Association under Article 42, Section 6 “Club Discipline,” is how it is stipulated: NFL Drug and Steroid Policies: No Club may impose any discipline against a player, including but not limited to terminating the player’s Player Contract, as a result of that Player’s violation of the Policy on Anabolic Steroids and Related Sub- stances or the NFL Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse, or for failing any drug test, provided, however, that the fact that a player has violated the Policy on Anabolic Steroids and Related Substances or the NFL Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse, or has failed a drug test will not preclude the (Pitt Post-Gazette)

Fantasy Impact:

This is great news. Ed Bouchette, the author of this article, is a well-known and respected Steelers' beat reporter. His info is usually "spot on." Bell's ADP has fallen a little bit and this may be due to the uncertainty of any internal discipline to be levied by the Steelers. Still a second round pick in fantasy drafts (11th RB off the board), go ahead and pick up Bell without worry.
