Despite turnovers, Geno Smith leads Jets to victory

by Tom Woods | Seahawks Correspondent | Sun, Sep 7th 4:20pm EDT

Geno Smith threw an interception and fumbled the ball away in the first half, but recovered to lead the New York Jets to a 19-14 victory over the Oakland Raiders. The sophomore signal caller went for 221 yards through the air and 38 yards along the ground, whilst also throwing a touchdown pass to offseason recruit Chris Johnson. (NFL.com)

Fantasy Impact:

This game didn't start off too well for Smith, but he showcased his talent by helping the Jets move to 1-0. If Smith can erase his errors, then he could turn into a solid and reliable fantasy QB2. But don't rush to pick him up if you don't already have him, because Smith's ugly side could turn up next week. It's best to wait and see if he can play at a decent level consistently first.
